Charity Spotlight | Kicks 4 Caribya, Inc.

Sailrock is happy to recognize and support the exceptional charities in South Caicos, such as Kicks 4 Caribya, Inc. The co-founder of the athletic based non-profit and a member of the Cornell Men’s Soccer Team, Jeffery Black, was first led to give back to the South Caicos community while studying at The School for Field Studies on the island. The School for Field Studies is a renowned academic institution in South Caicos that fosters learning and environmental preservation through field-based research and teaching. Black remarked that during his studies he, “met many kind, hard-working families,” which inspired him to start a project that encourages secure and fun activities for the youth of South Caicos.

Along with other members of the Cornell Soccer Team, Black established Kicks 4 Caribya, Inc., in order to provide athletic and economic opportunities for underprivileged communities throughout the Caribbean. Over the past year the organization has provided 15 boxes of sporting equipment, including 177 pairs of shoes, 230 shirts, 22 baseball mitts, 37 basketballs, 18 bats and 19 soccer balls. Black explained that with this equipment Kicks 4 Caribya hopes, “to provide a fun and safe environment for the whole island.”

The organization’s future projects include improving local athletic facilities, like the football fields and basketball courts. During their last trip to the island in April, members of Kicks 4 Caribya partnered with the community to run a soccer clinic and an island cleanup event.

Keep up the great work Kicks 4 Caribya, Inc.!
